An invitation to wander off-course.
Through a two piece format, this project interrogates the ubiquitous yet invisible user interface. It distorts, enlarges, and disrupts familiar digital spaces—unveiling the layered complexity and tension through the act of navigation. “Gooey” stands for the phonetics of “GUI,” graphical user interface.

Metaphors steer, but leave out the essense of exploration.
The metaphor of navigation is the central theme of this project. Metaphors as such provides our fundamental understanding of the digital and technology. However, they conceal at the same time. A Gooey Odyssey returns to the earliest form of navigation: seafaring. And reinstalling rough waters.
Animation serves as part I of the outcome, depicting a "demo" of a confrontational interface. It is an odyssey of one of the most mundane actions within the interface, checking the time and date.

The installation departs form the virtual. Bringing a distorientation between the real and the unreal. Interface elements are exponentially enlarged, experiencing space, time and gravity together with its viewers. They confront viewers at eye level.
